The Alabama Department of Transportation will close AL Highway 273 on Tuesday, July 30, to replace a pipe under the roadway.
The highway will be closed to all traffic near milepost 7, north of County Road 136. North and south of the closure, the highway will remain accessible to local traffic, but through traffic will be rerouted. The official detour is AL Highway 68 to U.S. Highway 411 to AL Highway 9 to AL Highway 35 and vice versa.
Weather permitting, the closure will begin about 7 a.m. ALDOT anticipates reopening the road in the late afternoon.
