Piedmont Police Chief, Nathan Johnson, Honored

Police Chief Nathan Johnson at the Piedmont Police Department has now been selected for inclusion in “Marquis Who’s Who”.

Recognition is given out to all those individuals who have demonstrated significant accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in their field.

Chief Johnson’s career in public service, and public safety, spans nearly two decades – during which – he has shown unwavering dedication to his community.  His tenure as the Chief of Police, which started in 2021, and his leadership has been pivotal in fostering a positive transformation for the community with a strong emphasis on community policing.

The practice involves building personal connections with the community members, and it is a cornerstone of Chief Johnson’s overall approach to law enforcement.

Chief Johnson’s journey in law enforcement began as a patrol officer.  His frontline experience laid the foundation for his rise through the ranks, including roles as investigating officer, shift sergeant, and a significant tenure as a canine officer. During his time as a canine officer, he formed a strong bond with his canine partner, making substantial contributions to the department.  In addition to his practical experience, Chief Johnson has a solid educational background.  He earned a bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University back in 2018, and holds certifications from both the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Canine Performance Sciences (2011) and Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy (2006).

Chief Johnson is a member of the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police and is recognized as an expert in public service and public safety across Alabama.  

He attributes his success to his empathy for others and his commitment to helping people overcome challenges and improve their lives.

Chief Johnson envisions continued growth for the Police Department.  He believes a strong police department is crucial to the development – and prosperity of the city – and he hopes these efforts will attract businesses and contribute to the city’s growth – ensuring a “brighter future” for all residents.
