Collinsville sweeps Valley Head in basketball action on Saturday

COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Panthers swept a basketball doubleheader from visiting Valley head on Saturday. The Lady Panthers held on for a 34-30 victory while the Panther boys posted a 69-36 win.

In the girls game, Caleigh McElroy led Collinsville with 11 points. Bella Wills added eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Veronica Francisco finished with five points.

Adleigh Lockett topped the Lady Tigers with 10 points.

Valley Head held a 12-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 18-17 at halftime. The two teams were tied at 22 after three quarters.

In the boys game, Jake Middlebrooks netted 18 points for Collinsville. Zach Clanton tossed in 12 points. Eli Griggs added 10 points. Gavi Lang and Dawson Cothran both contributed eight points. Lang had a pair of 3-pointers. Mason McAteer finished with six points on a pair of 3-pointers.

Kolby Dupree led the Tigers with 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Nate Bain added 10 points and Lennon Pike finished with six points.

Collinsville jumped out to a 25-7 first-quarter advantage and led 46-11 at halftime. The Panthers held a 67-31 lead after three quarters.
