CEDAR BLUFF – The Cedar Bluff Tigers held off a furious comeback by Valley Head in the second half to earn a 34-32 victory in Class 1A, Region 8 football action on Friday.
Cedar Bluff built a 21-2 halftime advantage and held a 28-10 at the end of the third quarter before Valley Head began to make it a game. The visiting Tigers even took the lead at 32-28 with 6:20 remaining in the game before Cedar Bluff went back on top on a late touchdown run by Jamison Miller at the 1:50 mark on a 4th-and-3 play for the final.
Miller ran for 127 yards on 13 carries for the home-standing Tigers (2-2, 1-1). Jeremiah Miller tallied 106 yards on 10 totes with three touchdowns.
Fischer Young completed 5-of-8 pass attempts for 113 yards and a touchdown. Zach Jones was his top receiver with four catches for 103 yards and a score.
Tytan Blevins topped Valley Head (0-5, 0-3) with 230 yards and two scores on 32 carries. He also had three 2-point conversion runs and was 3-of-9 passing for 60 yards and a 26-yard touchdown to Nick Gafford. Ethan Blevins gained 90 yards on 20 carries with a score.
Cedar Bluff hosts Ider in non-region action on Friday.
