Gaylesville boys hold on at Crossville; Lady Trojans fall short

CROSSVILLE – Kyler Bradley collected 24 points, including three 3-pointers, along with six steals, three assists and two rebounds in leading the Gaylesville Trojans to a 47-44 basketball win at Crossville on Tuesday.

Kuper Bradley contributed seven points, five rebounds, four assists and five steals for the Trojans. Collin Hendon and Daylen Dobbins both netted six points. Hendon also had four rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block. Dobbins also had eight rebounds and a steal. Caden Angle added four points, 11 rebounds, six blocks and an assist.

Ulises Figueroa and Levi Bouldin both scored 12 points to lead the Lions. Jesus Velazquez and Josue Velazquez both finished with nine points.

Gaylesville jumped out to a 21-4 first-quarter advantage and led 29-14 at halftime. Crossville cut the Trojan lead to 32-26 after three quarters, but Gaylesville held on down the stretch for the win.

In girls action, the Lady Trojans fell short by the final of 51-48.

Gracie Dawson delivered a game-high 28 points to lead Gaylesville, including a 13-of-22 performance from the free-throw line. Jayden Dobbins added nine points, all on 3-pointers.

Ella Matthews topped the Lady Lions with 17 points, including three treys. Amelia Reynoso and Jocabed Velazquez both finished with nine points.

Crossville led at each of the quarter breaks. The Lady Lions held a 15-11 advantage after one and a 32-25 edge at halftime. Crossville took a 43-32 lead into the fourth quarter and held on down the stretch.

Both Gaylesville teams host Cedar Bluff on Friday.
