Alabama Woman Arrested In Chattooga County

A twenty-year-old Alabama woman was arrested in Chattooga County on Sunday after a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputy clocked her vehicle doing 80 mph in a 55 mph speed zone. 

According to a report released by the sheriff’s office, the woman was clocked on Taylor’s Ridge and the deputy performed a traffic stop near Unity Church Road.  While speaking with the woman, the deputy learned that her license had been suspended in Alabama and he noticed the smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. 

After consent to search the vehicle, the deputy found a small amount of marijuana inside a baggie that was inside a glass container in the console.  Ashanti Elise Oates was charged with driving while license was suspended, reckless driving and speeding and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
