CENTRE – Audrey Haygood and Mary Hayes Johnson both scored in doubled figures to lead the Cherokee County Lady Warriors to a convincing 64-14 Class 4A, Area 10 girls basketball tournament victory over Cleburne County on Tuesday.
Haygood had a game-high 18 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Johnson rang for 15 points. She also sank a pair of treys for the Lady Warriors (21-7).
Ella Garmany gained seven points. Ellisan Givens and Nevaeh Gaidurgis both finished with five points.
Faith Brown topped Cleburne County with 11 points.
Cherokee County jumped out to an 18-6 first-quarter advantage and cruised to a 40-9 halftime lead. The Lady Warriors led 58-14 after three quarters.
Cherokee County advances to Friday’s area tournament championship game where they will face Jacksonville at 6 p.m. The Lady Golden Eagles defeated White Plains 53-44 in other area tournament action on Tuesday.
