Piedmont Police Chief Nathan Johnson Thanks Several for Their Outstanding Service to the Community

From Piedmont Police Chief Nathan Johnson:

“I want to take a moment to honor the heroic actions of two of our very own Officers, Officer Josh Parker and Officer Solomon Doss.

At approximately 4am on Saturday morning August 13, 2022 Police, Fire, and Rescue responded to a structure fire with an entrapped elderly female on the 100 block of Taylor St in Piedmont. Officer Parker and Officer Doss were near the area when the call was given out. They quickly arrived on scene and observed flames showing and the residence filled with smoke.

Officer Parker and Officer Doss entered the residence and was able to locate the 71 year old elderly female in the floor of the living room after battling through the smoke and fire. Officers were able to get her out of the burning house just before it engulfed in flames.

Because of the selfless efforts of these two Officers they were able to get the elderly female out of the house fire alive. Officers were treated with oxygen and the female was rushed to the hospital for treatment. I am very proud of Officer Parker and Officer Doss for their heroic actions. Help me recognize these two on a job well done! Thank you Officer Josh Parker and Officer Solomon Doss!”

The Piedmont Police Department would also like to recognize – the Piedmont Fire Department, Piedmont Rescue Squad and Officer Steven Curvin with the JSU Police Department for a job well done during the structure Fire on Taylor St.

The Piedmont Police Department would also like to recognize Officer Curvin’s heroic actions while off duty. Officer Curvin first noticed the Structure Fire while at home. He was the first on scene and attempted to locate the female entrapped in the residence as well. Thank you to all involved and great job.
