Woman Charged with DUI and Obstruction During “Sobriety Checkpoint” Stop

A Tennessee woman was charged with DUI after failing field sobriety tests at a Check Point in Chattooga County, Georgia earlier this month.

Amanda Madison, age 27 of Brentwood pulled up to a “Sobriety Checkpoint” that was being conducted by the Summerville Police Department and by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office at the intersection of East Washington and Penn streets when she was asked to present her license.

At that time, law enforcement officials noticed several alcoholic beverage cans which turned out to be empty inside the Chevrolet Malibu – and the driver also appeared to be “under the influence”.   According to officers, Madison became argumentative, she refused to exit the vehicle and also failed to “obey several lawful orders”.

She was eventually charged with Obstruction of Law Enforcement, in addition to DUI, and transported to the Chattooga County Jail.
