Alabama Governor Kay Ivey Has High Approval Rating According to Latest Poll

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey is stands tied for the 8th highest approval rating among governors – according to new polling information by Morning Consult.

Ivey, who has been governor since 2017, and is seeking another four-year term – had an approval rating of 62%; that’s higher than any other governor in the southeast.  The Alabama survey of 8,597 registered voters was conducted between July 21st and October 20th.   

Here’s how they rated Governor Ivey:

  • Strongly approve, 23%
  • Somewhat approve, 39%
  • Strongly disapprove, 16%
  • Somewhat disapprove, 16%
  • Don’t know or no opinion, 6%

Of the Alabama respondents 49% were Republicans, 28% Democrats; and 23% were independents.

The governors with the six highest approval ratings were all Republicans, including three from New England. Phil Scott of Vermont, 79%; Charlie Baker of Massachusetts, 72%; Larry Hogan of Maryland at 70%; Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, 67%; Mark Gordon of Wyoming, 66%, and Jim Justice of West Virginia, 65%.

 “I love Alabama and her people, and it is the highest honor of my life to serve as their governor,” Ivey stated in a press release regarding that poll from Morning Consult. “Having the confidence and support of Alabamians means the most to me. I assure the people of Alabama that as long as I am governor, your government will always reflect your values.”
