Sand Rock girls, boys finish runner-up to Holly Pond in Class 2A, Section 4 meet at Fort Payne

FORT PAYNE – Sand Rock’s girls and boys track and field teams finished runner-up to Holly Pond in the Class 2A, Section 4 meet at Fort Payne on Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats scored a total of 145.5 points. Holly Pond posted 167 points. In the boys meet, Sand Rock earned 116 points while Holly Pond put up 161.

Leading the Lady Wildcats was Zoey Handy, who placed second in the 400-meter dash (104.83), second in the 100-meter hurdles (18.22). Anna King also placed second in the 1600-meter run (5:59.79) and Christy Alred took second in the 3200-meter run (13:16.86).

Paisley Ford finished third in the 200-meter dash (29.18). Katelin Stiefel took third in the 800-meter run (2:36.48) and third in the 1600-meter run (6:02.40). Allie Stansell was third in the discus (74’1”). Brylaina Holcomb had a third place in the javelin (91’6”) and Lydia East took third in the shot put (28’8”).

The Lady Wildcats were also first in the 4×400 meter relay (4:29.62) and the 4×800 meter relay (11:01.43). They also took third in the 4×100 meter relay (55.24).

The Wildcat boys were first in both the 4×400 meter relay (3:33.40) and the 4×800 meter relay (8:55.98).

Skylar Nash took first in the discus (125’10”). Caleb Yoder was second in the 400-meter dash (51.19), second in the 1600-meter run (4:42.04) and second in the 3200-meter run (10:35.96).

Jack Watson placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (42.70). Brendon Lindsey earned second in the triple jump (39’7”) and third in the 100-meter dash (11.97). Ben Bruce finished third in the 800-meter run (2:09.62).
