Big U.S. Defense Contract Gets Even Bigger for One Northwest Georgia-based Company

The United States Department of Defense announced on Thursday that Showa/Best Glove, headquartered in Menlo, Georgia just across the state line in Chattooga County has been awarded a $43,701,247 modification to a previous let contract.  That deal is for glove production for the Department of Defense’s “Assisted Acquisition Cell”, at Robins Air Force Base on behalf of the Department of Health & Human Services.

The modification provides for the exercise of an option for the additional production capacity of  almost 67 million gloves per month.  Work will be performed in Fayette, Alabama, and is expected to be completed by Sept. 21, 2024.

The modification of the contract will make the cumulative face value $81.2 million.
