Sand Rock Wildcats Fishing Team competes in 2020 Student Angler Federation High School Fishing National Championship and World Finals Tournaments
Five Sand Rock High School anglers recently qualified for the Student Angler Federation High School National Championship in Stoddard, Wisconsin (Mississippi River):
- Levi Cox (2020 Sand Rock High School Valedictorian)
- Colton Cash
- Brody Robison
- Eli Colley
- Ashton Johnson
And two of those anglers, Brody Robison and Levi Cox – stopped by the WEIS Radio studios on Thursday morning, to speak with our own Jerry Baker:
The top 10% of teams from each state advanced to the National Championship – and all five of our local fishermen qualified for that National Championship through regular season SAF Regional Qualifier tournaments (the National Championship being held in conjunction with the World Finals tournament).
The team of Brody and Levi advanced to the semi-final round on day 3 but they just missed the Championship final day cut – by three ounces.
Due to boat issues, they were forced to make a change on their last day of competition – but were still able to weigh in with their heaviest bag. Brody and Levi managed to wind up the tournament as the top team from the state of Alabama.
In the fall, Levi Cox will attend Snead State Community College on an Academic Scholarship, and will be competing on the collegiate level as a member of the Snead State Fishing Team.
The Sand Rock Wildcats Fishing Team would like to say “thank you” to all of their sponsors for their generous support.
