Chock full of fun extras, “Thor: Ragnarok” thunders to DVD and Blu-ray

Marvel Studios(LOS ANGELES) — One of the best-reviewed Marvel movies of all time, and one of the biggest hits of 2017 — it surprised with a global take of more than 853 million bucks, good enough for a #8 spot in the yearly box office rankings — Thor: Ragnarok has come to DVD, and shines on a feature-packed Blu-ray.

Much of the movie’s irreverent wit comes from the fertile, funny mind of writer-director Taika Waititi [TY-kah wy-TEE-tee]. He also plays Korg, a hulking stone ally of Thor.

Waititi, who is better known for his independent films like the vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows, told ABC News last year that his goal with Ragnarok was simple: “The audience is there to have fun, you know? …[E]everyone’s taking everything so seriously, we really wanted to make this an enjoyable, cosmic adventure.”

Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, stranded on a junk-filled planet ruled by the eccentric, smarmy Grandmaster, played by Jeff Goldblum. Hemsworth has to fight Mark Ruffalo’s The Incredible Hulk while hatching a plan to get back to his home Asgard to stop his his sister Hela, goddess of death, played by Cate Blanchett, from enslaving the universe.

The DVD also contains deleted scenes, a gag reel, comedic short films, director’s commentary, and other fun add-ons.

Thor: Ragnarok is from Marvel and Disney, parent company of ABC News.
