Pickup Truck Bursts into Flames After Crashing into High Pressure Gas Substation in Rome

A pickup truck missed a turn and left the roadway at Burnett Ferry Road and Radio Springs Road Tuesday afternoon, crashing through a fence before landing on top of a high-pressure gas substation.  According to the Rome Fire Department Battalion Chief Gene Proctor, that truck caught fire as well as the gas substation, shooting flames approximately 50 feet into the air.  The driver of the pickup was transported to Floyd Medical Center with minor injuries.

The road was closed for around three hours.

The truck had to be cut into pieces for removal from atop the gas substation.
