“The Walking Dead” recap — “The King, The Widow and Rick”

AMC/Jackson Lee Davis(NEW YORK) — Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead began with each outpost receiving updates from the others as Rick continues with his plans to show The Scavengers Polaroid proof of what happened.

They plan for a final assault in two days at the Sanctuary.

Rick bangs on the door to Jadis’ hideout.

At Hilltop, Jesus is handing out food to Negan’s captured men; they’re given turnips and water — as Maggie objects.

Gregory, for his part, tells Jesus and company to “build gallows. Save bullets.”

Jesus and Maggie again disagree on what they should do about the prisoners.

At the Kingdom, Carol demands to see Ezekiel, who is holed up after he led so many of his people to slaughter. She insists that anyone who can fight needs to rally.

At the scavengers’ camp, Rick meets again with their leader, Jadis. “I shot you,” Jadis said. “Grazed me,” Rick corrects.

He shows his picture proof of the damage they’ve done to Negan and suggests they work together, or be destroyed by his militia.

Jadis turns Rick down, and locks him in a storage container.

At Hilltop, Gregory tries to convince Maggie that the prisoners must be dealt with.

At Alexandria, Michonne and Rosita are sick of waiting and decide to take a car to scout on their own.

Daryl and Tara decide they want Dwight dead, despite the fact he helped Rick’s gang.

Elsewhere, Michonne tells Rosita she needs to see the Sanctuary under siege with her own eyes. Along
the way, they stop, having heard music from a building.

Meanwhile, Carl officially meets Sadiq, the stranger for whom he left food in an earlier episode, and gives him food and water. Carl questions him to see if he should be let into Alexandria.

Outside Hilltop, a kid, Henry, tries to prove himself to Carol by killing walkers that surrounded him. She reluctantly lets him tag along to the Sanctuary, but not before replacing his bo staff with a pistol. They double back instead to the Kingdom.

At Hilltop, Maggie seeks to lock out the wolves from the henhouse, so to speak, by leading Negan’s men into a barbed wire pen — including Gregory, who pathetically fights the whole way into the pen.

Rosita and Michonne stumble on a pair of Saviors working on a speaker-laden truck. Michonne attempts to sneak up on the pair, but accidentally tips a ball, which rolls in front of them…and a gunfight erupts.

Rosita is disarmed, and as the female Savior fights a wounded Michonne, Leo, the male, attempts to flee, and ends up at the other end of Rosita holding an RPG. “Baby girl, you won’t —” he says before she does, and he explodes.

The female gets away, driving the speaker-laden truck  — until it’s rammed and destroyed by a garbage truck, driven by Daryl, with Tara riding shotgun.

They execute the Savior and realize the speaker truck was supposed to be used to draw away the walkers from the Sanctuary.

Back at the Kingdom, Carol confronts a defeated Ezekiel. He confides that she always made him feel real. “You are real to me,” a tearful Carol says. “To your people, the Kingdom…It has to be you…Those people need King Ezekiel…If not, do what you do best and play the part.”

At Hilltop, penned-in Savior Jared plots a rebellion, while Aaron mourns Eric. Maggie, meanwhile, says the prisoners are only bargaining chips, and if not, they need to die.

At a distance, Daryl shows Michonne and Rosita the under-siege Sanctuary. He wants to end it right then and there.

Meanwhile, at the Scavenger compound, Rick’s still jailed in a storage container.

The Walking Dead will return Sunday, December 3 at 9 p.m. Eastern time on AMC.
