Tyrese blames The Rock for delaying the “Fast and Furious” sequel

ABC/Jeff Niera(LOS ANGELES) — Tyrese Gibson is calling out his Fast and Furious co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for delaying the franchise’s upcoming installment and “making [it] all about” him.

After Universal Pictures postponed the release date of Fast and Furious 9 from April 2019 to April 2020, Gibson suggested in an online post that the film’s delay was a result of Johnson’s potential Furious spinoff, focusing on his character Luke Hobbs.

“#PSA Congratulations to @TheRock and your brother in law aka 7 bucks producing partner @hhgarcia41 for making the fast and the furious franchise about YOU,” Gibson wrote on Instagram, captioning an image that announced the new F9 date.

He continued, “And like you, DJ even if they call I will not be deleting this post – Gn folks see you in 2020 April #FastFamily right? Nah… it’s about #TeamDwayne.”

Gibson concluded, “#3yrs will it be worth the wait? #NoShaw just Hobbs will this be another #Baywatch? Guys guys just relax I’m just a passionate film critic.”

Tyrese’s comments comes after he offered The Rock some strong words concerning his potential Fast and Furious spinoff last month.

“If you move forward with that #Hobbs Movie you will have purposely ignored the heart to heart moment we had in my Sprinter,” Gibson wrote in a since-deleted comment on Rock’s Instagram page that was captured by The Shade Room.

“I don’t wanna hear from you until you remember what we talked about. I’m on your timeline cause you’re not responding to my text messages — #FastFamily is just that a family…….. We don’t fly solo.”
