Sand Rock softball bounces back, sets up if-necessary game against Fyffe

FYFFE – The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats bounced back from an 18-7 setback against Fyffe to eliminate Collinsville 14-3 and win a rematch against the Lady Red Devils 8-6 to force the if-necessary game in the Class 2A, Area 11 softball tournament on Monday.

In the loss to Fyffe, Katelyn St.Clair blasted a grand slam home run, walked three times and had four RBIs. Macy Martin went 2-for-3 with with a walk and a run. Aliyah King collected a hit, two walks and a RBI. Emma Sipsy had a hit and a RBI.

Peyton Johnson and Emma Thompson both delivered a hit. Bailey Kilgore scored a run and had a RBI. Molly Lay walked and scored a run.

Alyvia McMichen suffered the loss.

In the win over Collinsville in the losers bracket, Sipsy tossed a one-hitter through four innings. She didn’t allow an earned run and had a pair of strikeouts. She was also 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple, two runs and two RBIs.

St.Clair went 3-for-4 with another grand slam home run, two runs and five RBIs. Kilgore was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run and three RBIs. Lay also went 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs and a RBI.

King had a hit, a run and a RBI. Johnson delivered a hit and two runs. Maddie Clanton contributed a hit, a walk and a run.

Kaileigh Patters walked and scored a run. Aubie Camp scored a run.

Gabriella Whitmore had the lone hit for Collinsville. She also scored a run.

Ella Coker walked and had two RBIs. Karly Middlebrooks drove in a run. Aubrey Reeves also walked.

Bella Wills suffered the loss after tossing two innings.

In Sand Rock’s rematch with Fyffe, Camp went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. McMichen was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and a RBI. Sipsy went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, three runs and two RBIs. Lay was 2-for-5 with a double and a run.

Kilgore came away with a hit, a walk and a RBI. St.Clair walked twice and scored a run. Clanton contributed a walk and a RBI. Johnson drove in a run and King drew a walk.

Martin earned the win after working four innings. She allowed a pair of unearned runs on three hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

The area championship game at Fyffe is scheduled for Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
