Your Body: Cost of EpiPens Skyrocketing

The skyrocketing price of EpiPens in recent years is putting added pressure on many users of the epinephrine injection.

The issue is complex and the blame is not just on the drug manufacturer or pharmaceutical industry — it involves lobbyists, pharmacy benefit managers, insurance companies and drug distributors.

I carry EpiPens and have a life-threatening food allergy, so this hits home for me, as well.

The alternative product called the Adrenaclick may be an option, but one word of caution as this issue gets sorted out: Don’t buy EpiPens online or use expired EpiPens. It truly may be an issue of life or death.
