Former Chief Executive Officer Indicted on Child Sexual Abuse Charge

Simms3A Chambers County Grand Jury has seen fit to indict former Etowah County Chief Executive Officer Patrick Simms on a child sexual abuse charge.

He was indicted last Friday (February 12th), on the charge of Sexual Abuse of a Child Under the Age of 12 – almost a year from the date that he was arrested on the charge.

In February of 2015 Simms was named as a suspect in an incident allegedly occurring on or around the eighth of that month.

His contract as Chief Administrator of Etowah County, was eventually terminated following his arrest. He had served in that role since 2006, being named County Administrator of the Year in 2012 by the Alabama County Administrators Association.

Simms has also worked in Talladega County and Chambers County.
