Town Of Cedar Bluff Appoints New Municipal Court Judge & Prosecutor

As efforts continue to rebuild the Municipal Court System in the Cedar Bluff the Town Council voted unanimously during their regular meeting on Monday to appoint Centre Attorney Shane Givens as their Municipal Court Judge and Laura Lloyd as the Municipal Prosecutor – Lloyd is the wife of Cherokee County Assistant District Attorney Scott Lloyd and also serves as the Prosecutor for the City of Glencoe and Rainbow City in Etowah County she is also a private practice attorney.

The Council also approved unanimously a Resolution to be sent to the State Legislature which would allow the citizens of Cedar Bluff to vote on whether to allow Sunday Alcohol Sales inside the Town Limits.

An Ordinance was also approved declaring the old water treatment property off of Money’s Bend Road as surplus property and the town will be accepting bids on the sale of the property.

Nearing the end of the meeting, Councilman Norman Burton informed the council that the Civitan Club had donated some handicap accessible playground equipment to be installed at the town park – all the town would need to do is cover the cost of a concrete pad for the equipment to be sat on – a bid was accepted from Cedar Bluff resident Terrance Dixon in the amount of $2,200 for the project.

Due to increased operating expenses and the fact that the town recently had to purchase a new garbage truck it was unanimously decided that beginning January 1st Garbage Rates within the town would be increased by $1.00.
