Cherokee American Ozone Team in Tournament Play at Troy – UPDATED

The Cherokee American All Star baseball team fell to Opelika on Monday in the Ozone Baseball Tournament being held in Troy, Alabama.

Opelika jumped out to a 2-0 lead in their first at bat.  Cherokee then tied the score in the bottom of the first inning as Brayden Stordahl singled home Luke Hampton and Ian Edwards drove in Colby Slayton.  Unfortunately, those would be only two runs the Americans could muster and Opelika cruised to a 15-2 victory in five innings.

With the loss Cherokee County drops to the losers bracket where they will face Oxford today at 10:00am (Tuesday)

The winner of the Cherokee All Stars vs. Oxford game will play again today at 6:00pm while the loser will be eliminated from the tournament; the Cherokee All Stars opened the tournament with a 6-0 victory over Muscle Shoals on Saturday.
