OHATCHEE– A 16-year-old from Alexandria has died following a single-vehicle crash late Friday night, June 26, in Calhoun County.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Vineyard Road near Lowimoore Road, about six miles east of Ohatchee.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division said the teen was driving a 2007 Jeep Cherokee when the vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned.

The juvenile was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. The teen was transported to a local hospital for treatment but later succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased.

No further details have been released at this time as ALEA Highway Patrol continues its investigation into the crash.
