Several departments responded to the former location of American Roots Country Store Tuesday evening as reports of a fire went out at around 7:30.

According to the Summerville News, the structure was already in flames as firefighters arrived at the location; the cause of the blaze hay yet to be determined, firefighters did say however that the fire appears to have started somewhere in the middle of the structure.   

According to Chattooga County tax records, the property and business is owned by Ed & Joanna Thoreson of Summerville.

The Summerville Fire Department, Trion Fire Department and the Hays State Prison Department all responded to the scene with sheriff’s office deputies helping to control traffic in the area until the blaze could be brought under control.
