Cherokee County- A Cedar Bluff man was arrested on charges of possessing obscene photos of a minor in Cherokee County. According to a press release from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office:
Cherokee County investigators are actively investigating a local man following a CyberTip report involving suspected child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The tip, submitted through the Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, linked explicit images to Nathan Thomas Deaton, 54, of Cedar Bluff.
On April 7, 2025, investigators executed a search warrant at Deaton’s residence. He was located on scene and found in possession of a mobile device, which is now undergoing forensic analysis.
Deaton has been charged with two counts of possession of obscene matter containing visual depictions of persons under 17 years of age, in violation of Alabama Code §13A-12-192(b).
“Our investigators work tirelessly to protect children in this community and across the state,” said Sheriff Jeff Shaver. “We will continue to pursue these cases aggressively and ensure that those who exploit children are held accountable.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
