CEDAR BLUFF – After falling short in a one-run game in its area baseball series opener at Gaston on Tuesday, the Cedar Bluff Tigers rallied to win the area series with a doubleheader sweep at home on Thursday. The scores were 9-2 and 14-1.
In the first game, Kuper Bradley went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, two stolen bases and two RBIs for the Tigers. Hunter Stallings homered in the bottom of the sixth inning and finished with a pair of hits. He also earned the win on the mound after allowing two runs on three hits with three walks and nine strikeouts in six innings.
Hunter Mobbs tossed an inning of shutout ball in relief. He didn’t allow a hit or a walk and struck out a pair of batters.
In the second game, Caleb Edmondson belted out three hits for the Tigers, including a 3-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning. He also doubled in the first to score a pair of runs. Stallings also hit a 3-run shot in the bottom of the first inning. Bryson Teague tallied three walks and stole two bases.
Bradley earned the win for the Tigers. He allowed a run on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in four innings.
Edmondson tossed an inning of no-hit ball with a walk and a pair of strikeouts.
Weather permitting, Cedar Bluff is scheduled to play at Weaver on Saturday.
