Cedar Bluff baseball falls a run short at Gaston

GADSDEN – Despite pounding out 11 hits, including two each from Hunter Stallings, Caleb Edmondson and Kuper Bradley, the Cedar Bluff Tigers fell a run short at Gaston in area baseball action on Tuesday. The final was 8-7.

Stallings jump started the Tiger offense with a three-run homer in the third inning. He finished the game going 2-for-3 at the plate and stole a pair of bases.

Gaston rallied to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth and maintained the lead until the top of the fifth when Cedar Bluff tied the game at 6. Gaston responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to regain the lead and held on by a run for the final.

Kolwyn Morrison suffered the loss for Cedar Bluff. He allowed six earned runs on eight hits with five walks and seven strikeouts in five innings.

The two teams finish their series on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
