During the Town Council Meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Council approved 4 budget amendments to the budget, up to $34,000 for a 35 horsepower tractor and equipment, $17,500 for a drone for the Police Department, $15,000 for a fish weigh in pavilion at the Landing, $7,000 increase for the Town’s prorata share of the E 9-1-1 which will push the total to $43,300.
The budget was approved with these amendments with all council members present voting for it with the exception of Melissa Rodriguez voting no.
The Police department was approved for a $2,500 expenditure for surveillance equipment.
October 28th was set for Trunk or Treat day in Leesburg.
The council approved up to $1000 for repairs to the fence at the ball fields.
Resolution number 2023-02 was approved setting September 17th as Kleefstra Syndrome Awareness Day in Leesburg.
The Town’s Christmas party was set for December 4th at Decks and Docks Restaurant.
Mayor Brandy Pierce told the Council all the vendor spaces for Leesburg Day has been sold. He said there would be food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, antique tractors, vintage cars and trucks, inflatables for children, live music by Todd Hale and Stranded and much more.
Mayor Pierce also said Saturday would be the last day of the Farmers Market in the Park for this year.
The next meeting of the Leesburg Town Council is set for October 2nd at 4:30 for planning meeting and 5:00 pm for the meeting.
