Billy W. Peace, age 91 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 13, 1930, in Etowah County, Alabama, the son of the late Grady Peace and the late Laura Walker Peace.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education and social work from Jacksonville State University and worked for forty years with the State of Alabama as a social worker. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Centre, Alabama, and more recently was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Bowdon. Some of his favorite past times were watching Alabama football, playing golf, drinking coffee, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Naugher Peace; and son-in-law, Danny Watkins. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Nicholas Peace; daughter, Renee Watkins; sons: Tim (Barbi) Peace and Ty (Julie) Peace; step-daughters: Julie (Tim) Johnson and Becky (Tim) Law; grandsons: Josh (Tracy) Walley, Jai (Rachel) Walley, Nathan Peace, and Walker Peace; granddaughters: Jana (Nic) Hay, Emily (Thomas) Macher, Laura (Logan) Thompson, and McKenzie (Estaban) Ayala; step-grandsons: Zac Johnson and Nicholas Law; step-granddaughters: Lauren (Josh) Collins, and Anna (Drew) Williamson; sisters: Mary Bryan and Linda Webb; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel on Monday, November 29, 2021, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at 2:00 PM CST from Perry Funeral Home in Centre, Alabama with Rev. Josh Walley and Rev. Roy Thomas officiating. Music will be rendered by Nathan Peace and Emily Macher. The family will receive friends at Perry Funeral Home from 1:00 PM CST until the time of service.
Interment will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens in Centre, Alabama with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Josh Walley, Jai Walley, Nathan Peace, Walker Peace, Nic Hay, Thomas Macher, and Logan Thompson.
