For the 4th year in a row, a Cherokee County 4-H Member has been awarded an Alabama 4-H Foundation Scholarship. Samantha Parker, a graduating senior of Sand Rock School, has been chosen as one of the 35 recipients of this prestigious scholarship. Each recipient will receive $1,000.00 for their post-secondary plans for the next academic year.
The scholarships can be used for any post-secondary education, whether that is attending community college, trade school, or a university. Payment for tuition and fees will be made from the Alabama 4-H Foundation directly to the student’s post-secondary institution to be used in the 2021-22 academic year. This year’s group represents 4-H members from all seven Alabama 4-H SETS and 26 Alabama counties.
Each scholarship recipient demonstrated outstanding work in their 4-H project area and leadership to their county 4-H program. Samantha has been a 4-H member for 9 years, eight of which were served on the Cherokee County 4-H Youth Council.
In addition to this formal recognition, Alabama 4-H and the Alabama 4-H Foundation Facebook pages will feature each of our scholarship winners and their 4-H story daily from April 1 to May 20, at 10:00 a.m.
