Car Crashes into Long John Silver’s Building on Shorter Avenue in Rome

No one was injured when a vehicle crashed into the old site of Long John Silver’s on Shorter Avenue Tuesday.

Rome Police told the Rome News-Tribune following the wreck that the driver almost struck another vehicle before hopping the curb and plowing into the structure.  It is believed the driver was texting while driving.

Floyd County 9-1-1 reported that the inbound lanes of Shorter were blocked due to the accident at around 1:00pm; however, they were re-opened just a short time later.  By late afternoon, the large hole in the building had been covered.

The building is empty and is for sale.
