Pregnant Teenager And Infant Son Reported Missing In Jackson County

A 17-year-old pregnant teenager and her infant son are reported missing in northeast Alabama, authorities said.

Shayla Hope Wood and her 9-month-old son were reported missing from the Flat Rock area of Jackson County on Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office. Wood is about eight months pregnant, Sheriff Chuck Phillips said in a news release.

Wood is described by authorities as 5 feet 2 inches and about 190 pounds. The 17-year-old has brown hair and brown eyes, according to the sheriff’s office. Wood has a birthmark on her forehead.

Wood has connections in DeKalb, Marshall and Jackson counties, authorities said.
