RAINBOW CITY– The retirement of Assistant Chief Kevin Conklin closes a 46-year career with the Rainbow City Fire Department.

In a retirement announcement, the department recognized Conklin for his service to Rainbow City and its residents. Officials also credited his leadership, knowledge and experience with helping shape the department.

For nearly five decades, Conklin served alongside generations of firefighters while helping protect the community. In addition, the department highlighted his influence on colleagues he worked beside and mentored throughout his career.

The tribute described 46 years in the fire service as an extraordinary commitment to public service. It also thanked Conklin for the dedication and sacrifice that marked his career.
