SFC. Radford O’Neal Maze, age 69 of Centre, passed away Tuesday, July 24.

Services will be held 3PM Saturday, July 28th, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Ricky Pollard and Bro. Eugene Burgess officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3PM Saturday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Miller Maze; son, Corey (Kristi) Maze of Montgomery; daughter, Somer (Joel) Nowak of East Asia; brother, Warren (Scarlett) Maze of Boaz; sisters, Reda (Johnny) Hallman of Arab, Sharon (John) Friend of Hoover, and Neena (Shannon) O’Neal of Huntsville; grandchildren, Callie and Joshua Nowak of East Asia; Other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews remaining.

Sergeant Maze was a native of Arab, Al. He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett Maze and mother, Lorene Johnson Maze. Sergeant Maze held a degree in Physical Education and History from Auburn University, as well as a Master’s degree in Physical Education from Jacksonville State University, and was a teacher and head coach for many years at Ashville, Cedar Bluff, and Piedmont High Schools. He later served as a full time member of the Army National Guard as a tank commander and training NCO. He was also a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colonel Robert L. Howard Veteran’s Home in Pell City, AL.
