Collinsville sweeps basketball games with Ashville

COLLINSVILLE – Collinsville swept visiting Ashville in varsity basketball action on Friday night. The Lady Panthers earned a 66-24 victory, while the Panther boys claimed a 69-55 win.

In the girls game, Tyla Tatum sank five treys and had 21 points. Kayla Beene connected on three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points. Rylee Tillery came away with 12 points, all on treys. Destiny Cothran and Aaniyah Stewart both finished with six points.

Sera Beth Potter led Ashville with nine points.

Collinsville built a 24-4 first-quarter lead and led at halftime 37-7.

In the boys game, Colton Wills sank six treys and finished with 25 points. Alex Garcia also rang for 25 points, including three 3-pointers. Donovan Smith finished with five points.

Ashville’s Ashton Vann led all scorers with 30 points. Jacob Wilson netted 13 points and Chandler McGinnis finished with five points.

Collinsville led 23-11 at the end of the first quarter and built a 42-16 edge at halftime.
