Georgia Authorities Investigating Death of a 21-Month Old Child / UPDATED

Northwest Georgia authorities are currently investigating the death of a 21-month old child in Cedartown.

Polk County Deputy Coroner Marty Robinson informed media outlets that about 1:30am on Saturday, Redmond EMS had responded to a call on Adamson Drive, reporting that a female child was not breathing.  When units arrived the child was found to be in cardiac arrest and was transported to Polk Medical Center to be stabilized, prior to being air-lifted to Egleston Children’s Hospital just before 5:00am.

Ella Grayce Pointer was pronounced dead at the hospital on Sunday at 4:46pm.

The body was sent to the GBI Crime lab where an autopsy will be conducted.

That incident remains under investigation by the Polk County Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and the GBI, and  they say they’re awaiting the results of the autopsy, before an official cause of death can be announced.

Authorities have confirmed that there were two men with the child at the time of death and they have both been interviewed, although no additional information is being released.

One of the men has been identified as 27 year old Dustin D. Putnal; he has been arrested on a violation of his current probation conditions.
