CEDARTOWN– A Cedartown career fair gave high school students a chance to explore public-safety work through conversations with local professionals.

Polk County shared a recap October 20 of students connecting with its departments during the 2026 Polk County College and Career Academy Career Fair.

Representatives from E-911 and Fire-Rescue participated. In addition, students met personnel from the Police Department and Sheriff’s Office.

County staff answered questions and shared personal insights about their work. The county also said the conversations offered students a realistic look at potential public-safety careers.

The participating departments represent several parts of the local emergency-response system. For example, Polk County’s E-911 center operates around the clock, handling communications and dispatching for law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services.

Meanwhile, the fair brought those professionals into direct contact with Cedartown High School students considering their futures.

The county’s online recap also includes a video highlighting the event and its career connections.
