ANNISTON– Law enforcement officers arrested three people after searching a Pine Avenue residence and recovering suspected marijuana and MDMA.

According to the Anniston Police Department, investigators worked with the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit to develop probable cause for the search. They then obtained a warrant for a residence in the 1600 block of Pine Avenue.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, APD’s Special Response Team executed the warrant. Officers and investigators from both agencies assisted with the operation.

During the search, investigators reported recovering about 5 ounces of suspected marijuana. They also found about 1 ounce of suspected MDMA.

Police did not identify the three people arrested. In addition, the department did not release information about any possible charges.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Therefore, police said no additional information is available at this time.

Anniston Police repeated its message to suspected drug distributors: “We aren’t going away.” The department said it will continue working with its law enforcement partners to investigate drug operations in the city.

Meanwhile, officials asked community members to provide information about suspected drug trafficking or distribution. Police said public tips can help investigators build cases and remove illegal drugs from city streets.

WEIS previously reported on a July 22 search at another Pine Avenue residence. Officers took six people into custody during that operation. However, the current police statement did not indicate whether the two investigations were connected.
