(Montgomery, Ala) – Attorney General Steve Marshall announced that the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the conviction and death sentence of LaJeromeny Brown on August 21, 2026. Brown was convicted of the capital murder of Huntsville Police Department Agent Billy Clardy III in the Madison County Circuit Court and sentenced to death on January 12, 2024.
According to Marshall’s press release, Brown sold large quantities of marijuana in Huntsville. Drug task force agents arranged an undercover purchase from Brown in December 2019. During the sting, officers tried to grab Brown, who opened fire, mortally wounding Agent Clardy.
On November 3, 2023 Brown was convicted and sentenced to death for the capital murder of an on-duty police officer.
