FORT PAYNE, Ala. — Fort Payne City Schools lifted its districtwide lockdown Monday after law enforcement completed safety checks and found no threat.
The district said all students and employees are safe. In addition, every school has resumed normal operations.
Earlier Monday, school officials placed the district on lockdown at approximately 10:45 following a reported safety threat. Local law enforcement responded immediately.
Meanwhile, administrators and emergency personnel activated standard safety procedures to secure the campuses. Officers then checked and cleared every school as an added precaution.
“Law enforcement has completed safety checks of our schools, and no threat was found,” the district said.
Afterward, school officials thanked families for their patience and cooperation. The district said it worked closely with law enforcement throughout the response.
However, officials did not release further details about the nature or source of the original report.
