MUD CREEK– A passerby discovered a red Dodge pickup partially submerged in water off Cherokee County Road 928 early Friday morning, July 24.
The discovery prompted a response from McCord’s Crossroads Fire Department, the Cherokee County Rescue Squad, and Atrium Health Floyd EMS.
The crash happened along a dirt section of County Road 928. Water borders both sides of the road in that area.
First responders found no one inside the pickup or in the immediate area. Deputies were dispatched to the address associated with the vehicle to conduct a welfare check and seek additional information.
Authorities had not determined how long the pickup had been in the water. It also remained unclear how many people occupied the vehicle when the crash occurred.
No additional information was available.
