
LEESBURG– A single-vehicle accident occurred along Highway 411 in Leesburg on Thursday morning.
The car was traveling south when it left the roadway across from Slackland Baptist Church. The vehicle crashed through a chain-link fence and entered a fenced retention pond area beside the highway.
The car continued through the area before striking a culvert.

According to first responders, the driver did not appear to suffer any major injuries and declined medical treatment.
The Leesburg Fire and Police Departments responded to the scene. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Atrium Health Floyd EMS and Alabama state troopers were also dispatched.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
