A white Nissan Versa caught fire a little after 1:00 pm in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Centre Wednesday.

According to Wal-Mart employees, the driver had finished her shopping and was leaving the store when she heard a “pop.” The car then burst into flames.

The driver escaped the vehicle with burns to one hand. Debris landed on a nearby car, but no one else was hurt. The fire department used foam to take away the oxygen and put out the flames.

Centre Police, Centre Fire, and Atrium Health Floyd responded to the incident. The driver was treated for her injuries but not transported.
