CENTRE– Centre Fire/Rescue will begin a month-long Community Food Drive on Monday, July 13, to help restock local food pantries and support families in need.
The department is asking community members to donate non-perishable food items throughout the drive. Donations may be dropped off at Centre Fire/Rescue, located at 421 East Main Street in Centre.
Suggested donation items include canned vegetables, fruits, and meats; peanut butter and jelly; pasta; rice; boxed meals; cereal; oatmeal; soup; canned pasta; macaroni and cheese; shelf-stable milk; and other non-perishable food items.
The food drive is aimed at helping local food pantries stay better stocked for families who may need assistance.

Centre Fire/Rescue is encouraging residents to take part in the effort. Every donation, no matter the size, can help make a difference for families throughout the community.
Centre Fire Chief Robert Pace and Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency Public Information Officer Joey Weaver will be in the WEIS Radio studios Thursday morning, July 9th, with “Merry” Jerry Baker on the morning show to discuss the details of the drive. Listeners can tune in to AM 990 or FM 100.5 to hear more.
