Pell City Man Dies Following Two-Vessel Crash on Logan Martin Lake

 

ST. CLAIR COUNTY – An 83-year-old Pell City man has died following a two-vessel crash on Logan Martin Lake Thursday morning, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

The crash occurred at approximately 9:31 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, when a 1993 Ranger Bass boat operated by Gary M. Kendrick, 83, of Pell City, collided head-on with a 2005 Hurricane pontoon boat operated by Jeffrey R. Talley, 61, also of Pell City.

ALEA officials said Kendrick sustained critical injuries in the collision and was transported to UAB St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Barbara W. Kendrick, 81, of Pell City, who was a passenger aboard the Ranger Bass boat, was also injured in the crash. She was transported to UAB St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital for treatment.

Talley was not injured.

The collision occurred on Logan Martin Lake near the Interstate 20 Bridge in St. Clair County.

The Pell City Police Department and the Lincoln Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted Troopers with ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division.

The incident remains under investigation by ALEA Marine Patrol Troopers. No additional information has been released.
