Opening Date of New Centre City Hall Set

At their June 23rd meeting the Centre City Council set the move in date for the employees at the new city hall of July 9th with Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies on July 17th at 10am..

In the marathon meeting, the council also approved $22,137.50 for landscaping the strip between the Main Street curb and the sidewalk at city hall, including the embankment that approaches Estes Field.

In their final council meeting in the Mary George Waite Community Center, the members approved $67,013.50 for shoulder-building on Northwood Drive, the funding of which will come from a previous grant. The council also voted to approve a $22,900 audit fee, a $9,003 drone bundle for the police department, $1,849 for youth football insurance, and $600 to partner with the non-profit organization Main Street Alabama.

The council approved a new city logo which will be distributed to media outlets and to the public soon.

Under the heading of old business, the council received an update on previously-discussed broken playground equipment. They voted to spend $121,088.81 for replacement equipment with payment coming from the ’26-’27 budget.

In new business the council heard an update that and 8-and-under and a 10-and-under team each have advanced to the national tournament, the World Series in Baton Rouge. They voted to grant each team $2,500 to assist with travel expenses.

The council’s next meeting will be July 14th in the new City Hall Building.
