Boaz Police Department Identifies Deceased Male Found on U.S. Highway 431

Cherokee County Commission Approves Landfill Monitoring Agreement

BOAZ, Ala. — The Boaz Police Department has identified the deceased male discovered Sunday, June 14, in the 2000 block of U.S. Highway 431 as 53-year-old Kermit Eugene Marks of Boaz.

According to a media release issued by the department, officers initially responded to the scene after the unidentified man was found deceased. During the preliminary investigation, investigators developed information leading them to believe the individual was Marks; however, authorities withheld the identity pending positive confirmation by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and notification of next of kin.

Authorities confirmed the deceased was Kermit Eugene Marks, of 319 Otway Road in Boaz.

Marks was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, where officials are working to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Investigators stated that preliminary findings indicate no foul play is suspected. However, the investigation remains active while toxicology testing is completed and final forensic findings are issued by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

At this time, no additional information has been released. The Boaz Police Department stated updates may be provided upon completion of the final forensic report.
