Traffic Stop in Anniston Leads to Drug Trafficking Arrest

ANNISTON — A routine traffic stop by an Anniston Police Department officer on April 13, 2026, resulted in the discovery of a significant amount of suspected illegal narcotics and the arrest of a driver on trafficking charges.

According to authorities, an A-Shift officer initiated the stop after observing a traffic violation. During the course of the investigation, probable cause was established to search the vehicle.

Officers reported locating approximately 28.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 28.75 grams of suspected cocaine inside the vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody at the scene and charged with two counts of trafficking illegal drugs. The suspect’s identity has not been released at this time.

In a statement, the Anniston Police Department emphasized its continued efforts to combat illegal drug activity within the community.

“The men and women of the Anniston Police Department remain committed to identifying and removing those who bring illegal drugs into our community,” the department said. “These substances destroy lives, devastate families, and fuel other criminal activity. Our officers will continue to work diligently to keep this poison off our streets and protect the citizens of Anniston.”

The incident remains under investigation.
