WEIS Radio Welcomes Jacksonville State University Intern Senayah Staples
Centre- WEIS Radio is pleased to welcome Senayah Staples as its newest intern, bringing to the station a strong academic foundation, hands-on creative experience, and a clear passion for media and communication. Staples, a student at Jacksonville State University, will spend the coming months working across multiple departments at WEIS, gaining practical experience in broadcasting, digital media, and audience engagement.
A native of Roanoke, Alabama, Staples’ interest in communication began early and was shaped by her upbringing and community involvement. From a young age, she developed confidence in public speaking while serving as a master of ceremonies during church services. That early exposure to addressing an audience and helping create meaningful experiences sparked a lasting interest in media, storytelling, and connecting with people.
That interest carried into her academic career at Jacksonville State University, where Staples is majoring in Communications with a concentration in Digital Media Production and a minor in Marketing. Through her coursework, she has gained experience in media production, content creation, and understanding how audiences interact with and are influenced by media. These experiences have reinforced her desire to pursue a professional career in media and broadcasting.
Throughout her time at JSU, Staples has continued to refine her skills through creative projects and communication-focused classes, building both technical knowledge and professional confidence. She has developed a strong appreciation for the role media plays in informing, engaging, and shaping communities, and she is eager to apply that understanding in real-world settings.
Staples describes herself as motivated, dependable, and eager to learn—qualities that align well with the fast-paced and collaborative environment of radio and digital media. She values clear communication and takes pride in contributing meaningful work, whether independently or as part of a team.
Her internship with WEIS Radio represents an important step forward as she transitions from the classroom to the professional media industry. During her time at the station, Staples will gain exposure to various aspects of radio operations, further preparing her for a future career in communications and digital media.
