Rome Woman Arrested on Charges Related to Runaway Juvenile

Rome, Ga. — A Rome woman was arrested this week after authorities say she helped a 14-year-old run away from home and then provided false information to investigators, according to reports from Coosa Valley News.

Mary Heather Holcher, 51, is accused of assisting the juvenile in leaving her home on Elliot Drive. Police said Holcher picked up the child and took her to her residence on Orchid Place without notifying the child’s parents or returning the juvenile to her home.

Investigators said Holcher later lied to police and concealed facts regarding her involvement in the incident. Authorities reported that her actions delayed efforts to locate the child and determine her whereabouts.

Holcher has been charged with interference with child custody, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and false statements and writings.

Additional details surrounding the case were not immediately available.
